Haida Whale
Design : An appliqued Whale design created in the style of Haida art of the Pacific NorthWest is featured on the front cover and simple Haida ovoid designs embroidered on black leather down the spine of the journal. The simple, strong lines of the design are rendered in black leather, white and red embroidery thread and really pop against the vivid blue background of the fabric. The Haida regarded killer whales as the most powerful animals in the ocean, and their mythology tells of killer whales living in houses and towns under the sea. According to these myths, killer whales took on human form when submerged, and humans who drowned went to live with them.
Closure : Two simple simple black leather straps with silver snap fasteners
Fabric : Black Leather is used for the Raven Applique, Spine and the Closure. A vivid blue micro-suede fabric is used as back cover and on inside flaps .
